Butterfly Birthday Party

Hi! I am popping in today to share a tour of sorts of Vera’s first birthday party, which was butterfly themed!

First let me say, I’m not at all creative or crafty. I have a full time job and when I’m home, I want to focus on spending time with Vera and Mike. With that in mind, these ideas were super simple to execute and partially delegated –> the name of the game, IMO.

Let’s start with the tables:

I chose one butterfly-themed tablecloth and one set of butterfly-themed plates, and then went with matching solid bright colors. That way, if I had extra (which I always do –> classic over-buyer right here), I wouldn’t be stuck with a bunch of theme-specific materials. Plus, I love bright colors. So….there are the beautifully bright tables. Perfect against the wooded backdrop, if I do say so myself!

Next up, the napkins:

Here’s how crafty I get: I scrunched up two napkins and tied them together with a bit of ribbon and a fork to make a butterfly. Pretty simple, even for me. But I think it added a nice touch. In this photo, you can also see the butterfly tablecloth.

For the food, we kept it pretty simple and grilled burgers and hot dogs. People always want to help, so I asked for side dishes.

Other than that, we had a cheese and cracker tray (the crackers kiiiiind of resemble butterflies, right?!),

and a fruit tray with butterfly toothpicks.

For drinks, my mom made a fruit punch which I called “sweet nectar” –> get it?! and used a very simple sign to make note of it.

And last but obviously not least – dessert. I ordered cupcakes arranged like butterflies from Gentile’s.

They turned out even better than I could have imagined! 🙂

So there you have it….all about the butterflies!
