Oh, hi

How ya doing? We are emerging from the black hole of the stomach flu over here, which explains my absence on Monday.

Thursday night and Friday Vera threw up a couple times, which we thought was from the antibiotic she started on Thursday afternoon. She also wanted lots of cuddles on Friday, as you can see from the above picture. We later learned…it was not the antibiotic!

Saturday was normal for the most part. She woke up in a good mood and we played hard all day. We kept it low key because it was rainy, and it was a nice change of pace after a couple fun-filled, full weekends.

I even got some meal prep in – turkey meatballs and cherry carrot muffins for Vera (I used the base of my sweet potato muffin recipe, but used carrots, cherries and a banana instead, and seasoned with cinnamon instead of savory spices).

I also threw quinoa, chicken, veggies, broth and seasoning in the slow cooker for a “risotto”, and Mike’s parents joined us for dinner. We had plans to go to the Tribe game and they were going to babysit, but when Vera had her stomach issues we canceled – but his parents still came over, which was fun.

We put Vera to bed like normal, and shortly after that, Mike’s parents left. I sat down with a beer and my book, and I made it through most of my beer….before going down hard with the stomach flu. We realized it probably wasn’t the antibiotic making Vera sick, but the stomach flu – ugh, she was sick and we didn’t even know it!

Anyway, I spent all of Sunday in bed and finally started to feel better at like 8 pm. I had to manage with only photos of my lovebugs all day :(.

I also got some visits…occasionally Vera would remember I was in my bedroom and push open the door and toddle in. It was sweet…until she would hold her arms up and cry for me to pick her up :/

Anyway, I slept 9.5 hours Sunday night and woke up Monday feeling like a new person.

And is there anything more #momlife than this? In bed all day Sunday with the stomach flu, then on Monday I worked a full day, did 5 loads of laundry, unloaded the dishwasher, disinfected the whole house (including washing the wood floors because if you’re going to disinfect, you might as well DISINFECT), took care of Mike who came down with the stomach flu Monday morning, solo-parented Vera (including a trip to the park), and managed to get dinner on the table plus all the post-dinner clean up?

Thankfully, we’re all in good shape today. PHEW.

Hope your week has been off to a great start 🙂
